The 2013-2014 Patrick Wayne Award!
The absolute worst in game shows of the 2013-2014 Season

The patron saint of the site in Patrick Wayne has been enshrined in trophy form and was handed out to four really deserving shows in The Our Little Genius Scandal, Love Triangle, The Australian Price Is Right Revival and Take It All.  With those four shows being dubbed the worst of the year, we then find ourselves back asking that simple question:  What is this years absolute worst game show, host or moment of 2013-2014.  Well, we can scratch off host, since no hosts were bad enough to be nominated for the honor.  Besides that, we expanded the field this year to SIX because there was so much bad this year that we needed another slot.

This was not a great year for new game shows and the old game shows experimented quite a bit and either became unwatchable or the experiments outstayed its welcome quick.  We also had some really bad press this year for game shows as well.  It seemed like the lamestream media loved to jump at how a kid mispronounced a Final Jeopardy answer and getting the softer-headed out there to believe he would have won, when the person in front had him more than doubled up.  You also had media blasting Wheel of Fortune for a Paul Walker puzzle which aired a couple days after he died, while ignoring that this episode was taped months in advance.

But that's enough about that subject for now.  Let's get to the cream of the crap.  Here are your six finalists!

The Million Second Quiz:  This show was hyped to the gills, especially with a successful Facebook game and moble app, and was meant to be one of the biggest television events of the year.  When it came on primetime TV, what we got instead was a show that played format mambo with its own format from show to show and even when the game was off air, making the entire production a giant mess.  Having the off air game scored and played different from the TV version when it was a continuous game made it a chore to sit through.

TPIR's Plinko Special:  Plinko is without a doubt the most popular game in the rotation, so when news broke of a show that was all Plinko, fans were vocal about it either going to be great or suck.  After it aired, everyone agreed it was one of the worst episodes of the show in a long time.  A badly executed show that featured minimal winners & making the popular game un-popular with the fans during the duration of the season.

Mind of a Man:  Despite DeRay's capable hosting, he couldn't save this show.  Melding Family Feud's lewdness, a lame format and a gameplay mechanic making the first 25 minutes of a show meaningless leaves the viewer hollow and without any of the charm that this show could of had.

It Takes A Church:  With Bible Challenge's ratings starting to dwindle, GSN thought a dating show revolving around a church would keep the Christian audience tuned in.  Instead, they were turned off when they saw a show that was so devoid of entertainment and joy that even prominent Christian pundits thought the show was blasphemous.  Natalie Grant's hosting earns mention for being more wooden than your basic church pew.

Cutthroat Kitchen:  The chopped formula mixed in with sabotage and the most unlikeable bunch of cooks you've ever seen on a cooking show, leaving nothing worthwhile whatsoever.  Alton Brown is really out of place here as the sadistic auctioneer host, and the execution leaves a lot to be desired.  The set is also bland and crap.

Panic Button:  TruTV thought that seeing contestants suffer through a Saw-like environment would be a great idea.  But instead, it gave us a cringe-worthy experience that made us yearn for the torture-porn movies to come back in full force.  Exploiting fear for laughs was unique when MTV did it on Fear 15 years ago, but nowadays everyone is tired of the cheap jump-scares and nobody seemed to like this show either.

Well, those are the nominees, all you have to do is vote using this poll right below.  The one with the most votes gets the award and will be given the video induction treatment on September 27th.
