Dumb Answer of the Week
What Happens When You Speak Before You Think

December 11th - December 17th, 2011

Utilizing the Secily Rule, the latest Dumb Answer of the Week actually comes from a show that aired over a week ago.

We head across the pond to the UK for our latest DAotW. Before there was the Million Dollar Drop in America there was the Million Pound Drop in Great Britain. And, it's from their December 8th episode that we meet the following blokes.

Say hello to Gareth & Alex. They seem like decent enough folks. Let's see if they can hold onto...

One million pounds.

They're given the choice of categories seen above and opt to go with "Awards".

The answer choices are: "Friends with benefits", "Trouser snakes", "The environment", "Sexy backs". Here's the question:

Being that this is the first question, the obvious answer seems to be "The environment".

As the 60 seconds begins they deduce that "Trouser snakes" isn't it, because of the movie "Snakes On A Plane".

I know, Samuel L. I don't get why they brought that up either.

They also rule out "The environment".

So ultimately, they start loading money onto "Friends with benefits". To play devil's advocate for a moment, "Friends With Benefits" is a movie that Timberlake co-starred in. The questions on the Million Pound/Dollar Drop rarely go for a swerve early on, so this doesn't look good. I hope they're not putting it all on the line.

You took the words out of my mouth, Jim Kosek.

As the pounds were being piled, Gareth asked Alex if she was sure that they should put it all on "Friends with benefits". He even at one point asked, "It's not the environment?" to which Alex said, "No. No. No."

So all the money is in place and the 60 second clock was stopped.

During the recap of where everything was, host Davina McCall said that Gareth and Alex were 1,000,000 pounds sure that "Friends with benefits" was correct to which Gareth retorted, "She (referring to Alex) was."

And now, let's see what drops.

Yep.

Even the audience is holding back laughing at Alex's mistake.

Obviously, Alex misread the question and thought a zinger or swerve was in play. Either that or she had a brain cramp on stage.

Luckily, because it was Christmas week, Gareth & Alex leave with a one day stay at a luxury hotel. Oh, the night they'll have thinking about their time they spent on the Million Pound Drop.

I hear there's another competition calling for Alex's talents.

Hopefully she won't pull an Oliver.

What a great twit!
